How much material do you need?
Measure the area in feet and enter the desired finished depth in inches. Dirt, sand, and topsoil automatically include a 30% allowance for compaction, settlement, grading, and waste. Road base / flex base starts at 20%, other materials start at 10%, and you can adjust the allowance when project conditions call for more or less.

Allow for compaction
Dirt, road base, sand, and aggregate settle when placed and compacted. The right allowance depends on material, moisture, existing grade, and installation method.
Confirm access and weight
Gate width, overhead clearance, road conditions, ground firmness, legal weight, and safe turnaround space affect which truck and load size can reach the placement area.
